 WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND HYPOTHESIS TESTING

P.G Department of Commerce of DSCW organized a one-day online workshop on research methodology and hypothesis testing for students. This workshop was designed to offer practical guidelines and direct the students to distinguish between parametric and non-parametric tests. The event started with an official welcome address by Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur. Dr, Nitin Thapar highlighted the overview of the workshop with the classification of the hypothesis, the difference between parametric and non-parametric tests, and their applications. He has also explained the parametric statistical analysis to the participants and equip the students to carry out successful research work and overcome potential challenges. He also spoke about the non-parametric test with examples.  The resource person also provided information about the introduction to t test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, and MANOVA. More than 100 students attended the workshop. The session was handled by Mrs. Leena Kakkar, Head, P.G Department of Commerce. Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Principal, DSCW congratulated the faculty members and students of the event. 




REPORT ON WORLD SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DAY

27th February 2023 

Post Graduate Department of Commerce of Dev Samaj College for Women organized World Sustainable Energy Day under the Patronage of Chairman Shriman Nirmal Singh ji Dhillon and Principal Dr. Sangeeta on 27th February 2023 at 12:00 pm in Commerce Block.  This activity was organized for B.com1st year students. World Sustainable Energy Day (WSED) was first held in 1992 by the Austrian Energy Agency (AEA). This year’s theme is "Energy transition = Energy security!". The activity focused on the role of renewable energy sources in the transition to a sustainable energy system and included materials on wind power, solar energy, and biomass. A more sustainable energy future can be achieved by sharing knowledge and experience. Students learned the ability to maintain at a certain rate or level”. An ability to continue our positive goal-achieving activities every day for a long period of time is nothing short of mastery that is achieved through deliberate practice.

Learning Outcome

Students get the knowledge of the carrying capacity of ecosystems as related to providing for human needs. Students learned to demonstrate an understanding of the nature of systems and an understanding of their social responsibility as future professionals and citizens.

REPORT ON WEBINAR ON THE IMPORTANCE OF IP IN THE ACADEMIC SECTOR

Objective: To create awareness about intellectual property rights among students.

To acquaint the students with intellectual property rights, P.G. Department of Commerce in collaboration with IPR cell of DSCW organized a guest lecture on “Importance of IP in Academic Sector” on 8th Feb, 2023. The resource person of the seminar was Professor Rupinder Tiwari, Mentor - DST Technology enabling Centre, P.U Chd, Founder & Fmr Chairperson, Deptt. of Microbial Biotechnology, P.U, Chd and Fmr Ipr Chair Pu. Chd. Mrs. Leena Kakkar, HOD , P.G Department of Commerce coordinated the guest lecture on IPR and welcomed the Officiating Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, and Chief Guest Dr. Rupinder Tiwari, and introduced the topic.  He gave a PowerPoint presentation on the topic “Importance of IP in Academic Sector ”. In his presentation, he explained the salient features of IP and Rights associated with IP. He also emphasized process of award of an IP and the time period of IP protection . His lecture on IPR was very much informative and knowledgeable. Students gained some new things and resolved their queries by asking questions from Prof. Rupinder Tiwari. At the conclusion of the lecture, Dr. Vandana Gupta, who is in charge of the IPR cell, gave a vote of thanks and expressed her gratitude to the invited guest for giving up their valuable time to enhance the knowledge of DSCW students.

Learning Outcome: Students gained knowledge of intellectual property rights and the different issues that go along with it.
